For new residents (have never lived or do not currently live on Campus) who wish to apply for accommodation starting in 2018, applications will open online later this year. You can provide your details on our Expressions of Interest for 2018 form.
There is no deposit or payment required when you apply. Deposits are only required if you are successful in obtaining an accommodation offer and wish to accept the offer.

Monash University Open Day is held each year on the first Saturday in August for Peninsula Campus and the first Sunday of August for Caulfield and Clayton. This provides a great opportunity to view the student accommodation halls and rooms. Open Day hours are from 10:00am until 4:00pm.
If you can’t make it to Monash Open Day, the following guidelines apply:
Clayton On-Campus Accommodation Tours
Generally, tours of communal areas within residential halls, such as TV/games room, common room, laundry, kitchen, mail room and bike store, can be arranged through the Administration Office. A resident room may only be viewed if a vacancy exists.
A sample of our self-contained studio apartments may be found near the car park outside the MRS Administration Office at 58 College Way, Clayton Campus.
Unfortunately, due to full occupancy throughout the year, we are unable to show the inside of our residences except on Open Day. However, Peninsula staff can accompany visitors for a pre-booked tour of the external of the buildings and discuss the various amenities inside.
A virtual tour of the Peninsula residences may also be viewed online.
We have three styles of accommodation on campus - self contained studio apartments, shared apartments, and traditional halls of residence. You can find out more about these on-campus accommodation options and on which campus they’re available.
If you’re interested in renting private accommodation off-campus, we can provide advice advice and guidance to make the process a little easier. You can find out more about off-campus accommodation.
You’ll find our current fee-schedule here. All of our on-campus accommodation includes a private furnished room, all your utilities (like water, gas and electricity), internet access, laundry facilities and a shuttle bus between campuses. Plus you’ll have access to a wide range of activities, events and support programs. It’s great value for money, especially when compared to the cost of renting privately.
Your room contains a single bed, wardrobe, desk, side table, cupboard, VoIP telephone (for free internal calls) and chair. Internet, utilities (electricity, heating, water) laundry facilities and car-parking (subject to proof of vehicle ownership) are all included as part of your residential agreement.
The items that you will need to provide for personal use include bedding, towels, personal cooking equipment such as crockery, saucepans and cutlery. You can pre-purchase a bedding pack online from the Shop.Monash web site, ready for pick up on your arrival.
Some residents at Residential Village may also bring a small bar fridge for their private bedrooms. Residents in studio apartments may wish to supply their own vacuum cleaner as they are not available from the MRS office.
No. As a resident, as long as you can provide proof that you own your car (ie. registration papers with your Family name and your address) we’ll issue you with an MRS Parking Permit for the corresponding MRS allocated parking. However, upon departure from residences we require the parking permit to be returned otherwise you may be charged the equivalent of a Blue Parking Permit.
At most campuses, Australia Post delivers your mail to the Administration Office, and we then pass it on to your mailbox. We’ll give you all the details when you check in. It’s just slightly different at Peninsula, where Australia Post delivers directly to your residence.
Once you leave, regular mail will be redirected to the forwarding address you provide on your departure form for a period of two weeks following your departure. After this period, all regular mail will be returned to the sender.
For parcels you may be expecting within 2 weeks following your departure, we request that you nominate a 3rd party to collect the item if you cannot collect yourself. Any parcels received after 2 weeks following your departure will be returned to the sender and parcels being delivered via courier will not be accepted at the Administration Office.
No, but you’ll have the facilities you need to cook for yourself. There are a number of cooking groups that you might be interested in joining. Alternatively if cooking is not your thing, you can purchase freshly-prepared meals at the Halls Cafe (Clayton only)
For starters, you’ll be surrounded by a group of young people from around the world, all looking to make new friendships. And it’s heaps of fun - with dozens of activities like movie nights, cultural events, team challenges and charity initiatives.
We understand that living and studying away from your home country can be an exciting, but also challenging experience. At MRS you’ll receive the support you need to settle in properly. Plus, a large number of our residents are international students, so you won’t be alone.
