Arts enrolment with extension studies credits

Some of the options below allow you to enrol in second-year units. WES may prevent you from doing this if your extension studies credits have not been processed before you pre-enrol. If this happens, just enrol in the first-year units and we will help you enrol in the others.

You can change your enrolment in WES up until the second week of each semester.

Single-degree students

If you completed two extension studies units, you have three options when you enrol.

Option Semester one Semester two Note
1 3 x first-year units 3 x first-year units Highly recommended because you start university with a lighter load. Still considered full-time and you can still complete your course in three years.
2 4 x first-year units 4 x first-year units Means you end up with 60 first year credit points (the maximum). Not allowed for the Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Arts (Languages).
3 3 x first-year units and
1 x second-year unit
3 x first-year units and
1 x second-year unit
Second year units must be in your extension studies discipline as you're not allowed to enrol in second-year units without a first-year sequence. This option not recommended because second-year subjects can be quite demanding.

Double-degree students

This advice assumes that the double degree requires a first-year enrolment in two units per semester in each component of the degree (e.g. two Arts first-year-level units and two Science first-year-level units for a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science double-degree). You should check your course grid and with the faculty that teaches your non-Arts component for instructions on how to apply for credit for that part of your double degree.

If you completed two extension studies units, you have four options for your Arts component when you enrol:

Option Semester one Semester two Note
1 1 x first-year Arts unit 1 x first-year Arts unit Recommended because you start university with a lighter load. Still considered full-time and you can still complete your course in within the minimum years.
2 2 x first-year Arts units 2 x first-year Arts units Check if your course structure allows this. It's not allowed if you want a double-major in your Arts component (exceeds the maximum of 24 first year Arts points).
3 1 x first-year Arts unit and
1 x second-year Arts unit
1 x first-year Arts unit and
1 x second-year Arts unit
Second-year units must be in your extension studies discipline as you're not allowed to enrol in second-year units without a first-year sequence. This option is not recommended because second year subjects can be quite demanding. (Languages may be an exemption to this).
4 1 x first-year Arts unit and 3 units from your non-Arts course component 1 x first-year Arts unit and
3 units from your non-Arts course component
Depends on the structure of your non-Arts course component. Check with a course adviser from that faculty.
