Ms Carol Schwartz AM (BA 1977, LLB 1978, MBA 1988)

Ms Carol Schwartz (BA 1977, LLB 1978, MBA 1988) is a pioneer in developing social enterprise organisations in Australia and a champion of women’s leadership.

She has impacted on Australian society through her business achievements and her involvement in a diverse portfolios of board appointments including Qualitas Property Partners, Yarra Capital Partners, Melbourne Business School, the Australian Innovation Research Centre, Enterprise Melbourne Advisory Board, Our Community and Stockland.

Carol is passionate about social change founding the Trawalla Foundation and supporting the formation of the Australian Women Donors Network. She also founded Our Community, Australia's first major private company established to enhance the social good.

Her newest venture - the Women's Leadership Institute Australia - aims to address the imablance of women in leadership positions in Australia. 

In 2010 she was named a Monash University Fellow and in 2011 she was added to the Victorian Honour Roll of Women.

In October 2012 she was appointed to chair Creative Partnerships Australia, a new organisation that replaces the Australia Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) and Artsupport Australia.

She is the daughter of well-known business people and philanthropists, Marcus Besen AO and Eva Besen AO. Her sister, Ms Naomi Milgrom AO, also a Monash alumna, is the Executive Chair and CEO of the Sussan Group.
