His Honour former Chief Judge Michael Rozenes AO QC
Michael Rozenes (BJuris 1968, LLB 1970) is the former Chief Judge of the County Court of Victoria.
Judge Rozenes held the role from 2002 to 2015, resigning from this position due to illness.
Judge Rozenes has had a distinguished career in criminal, commercial and administrative law over more than 30 years.
Judge Rozenes was admitted to practice in 1971. His Honour specialised in criminal and general law including overseeing complex taxation, corporate and appellant criminal cases.
His Honour became a Queen’s Counsel in 1986.
From 1992 to 1997 Judge Rozenes held the position of Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
In 2010 his Honour was recognised with an Officer of the Order of Australia for "distinguished service to the judiciary, particularly as Chief Judge of the County Court of Victoria and the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, and through contributions to law reform and legal education".
His Honour has been a member of the Victorian Bar Council, the Victorian Bar Ethics Committee and Chair of the Criminal Bar Association.
