Tan Sri Dato Dr Michael Yeoh
Tan Sri Dato Dr Michael Yeoh (BEc 1977, BBus(Hons) 1996) is the co-founder and chief executive officer of the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI), one of Asia's leading think tanks.
Across his 30-year management career Dr Yeoh has held numerous leadership positions and directorships.
He is Malaysia's representative on the ASEAN High Level Task Force on Connectivity, a member of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission advisory board, and a commissioner on Malaysia's Competition Commission.
Dr Yeoh is also chairman of the World Chinese Economic Forum (WCEF) and the ASEAN Leadership Forum; secretary general of Corporate Malaysia Roundtable, ASEAN Business Forum and World Muslim Leadership Forum; vice-president of the Malaysian Institute of Directors; a member of the Institute of Directors, UK; a fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Management; and a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London.
Previously Dr Yeoh held directorships at the National Heart Institute, Star Publications, Formis Computer Berhad and Sunway College. Dr Yeoh was president of the Malaysian Students Union at Monash University and is a former chairman of the Australian and New Zealand Graduates Association of Malaysia.
After graduating from Monash, Dr Yeoh completed his practical accounting training with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Melbourne.
He has attended Harvard Business School, the Aresty Institute of Wharton School in US, the Melbourne Business School and UCLA’s Graduate School of Management.
In 1986, Dr Yeoh received a Goodwill Ambassador Award while on the US State Department's International Visitors Program.
In 1993 he received the Kesatria Mangku Negara (a federal award) from the King of Malaysia and in 1997 was conferred a Datoship by the Governor of Penang. He was conferred the Doctorate of Laws Honoris Causa by Britains’s University of Nottingham.
Dr Yeoh has written several books on leadership and management and Malaysian politics.
