An eagle-eye view

Stephen Langford has clocked an impressive 32 years at the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) in Western Australia, which makes him the longest serving medico at the RFDS.

Recently awarded the Australian of the Year Awards’ WA Local Hero in 2016, he has published a compelling account of this iconic organisation and the work they do.

Here Stephen tells a story of community connection but also of hope. His anecdotes could easily form the lyrics of a love song to land and place. He also writes about the deep impressions made by the people he’s helped in remote places. Along with his aspirations for continuing innovation to ensure improved health care in remote Western Australia. Stephen’s goal is to continue making a difference to people’s lives.

For an opportunity to hear Stephen talk about his work first hand, join us at the UWA June Literary High Tea where Stephen will talk about his work as a Royal Flying Doctor and the creative process of writing his book, ‘The Leading Edge, Innovation, technology and people in Australia’s Royal Flying Doctor Service.
