Monash graduate joins international elite

March 2007

Monash alumnus Andrew Cohen (BEc 1989) has been named as one of the world’s most extraordinary leaders aged 40 or younger.

The Young Global Leaders 2007 is a group of 250 leading executives, academics and public figures.

Professor Klaus Schwab, executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, established the list in 2004 as community who would dedicate a part of their time to jointly address global issues and work towards a better future. “This unique global network has the potential to tackle global challenges through knowledge sharing and collaboration. Together, they form a powerful international force for the global common good,” Professor Schwab said.

Andrew Cohen is currently managing director of JP Morgan Trust Company and is based in Los Angeles. His career in finance has involved working in London and for Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan in Geneva before moving to the United States.

Andrew becomes a Young Global Leader alongside Australians Cathy Freeman, James Packer and Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Joe Hockey. The international group is incredibly diverse, including Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, sumo wrestler Asahoryu Akinor, chief financial officer of Burberry Stacey Cartwright and President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili.
