2014 Distinguished Alumni Award – Faculty of Business and Economics
Tony Palmer (BBus(Mktg) 1987) is president of global brands and innovation for Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
He leads the global development of the company’s three consumer categories and is responsible for product and marketing innovation, research, and working with the corporation’s regional leaders to build the brand’s global reach and market share.
Prior to joining Kimberly-Clark in 2006, he served as managing director UK for Kellogg Company, and president of the company's natural, frozen and warehouse club businesses. Mr Palmer served in marketing and general management positions within the Minute Maid division of Coca-Cola Company US, and later as region director for Coca-Cola in Australia. Before Coca-Cola, he served as a marketing manager with CSR Refined Sugars and Mars Confectionery Australia. He began his business career by holding senior consultant and business development manager roles at different consulting firms.
In addition to his role at Kimberly-Clark, Mr Palmer serves on the Board of Directors for The Hershey Company, the Australian American Association and The Ad Council.
He currently lives in Dallas, Texas, with his wife Lisa and their twin daughter and son. He remains highly engaged with Monash University and the Monash Business School.
Together with his wife, Mr Palmer has established the Tony Palmer Award for Excellence. The award supports high-achieving Bachelor of Business (Marketing) graduates through a cash prize and one-on-one career mentoring. The program promotes leadership and also encourages recipients to give back by mentoring other students.
