Welcome to the first edition of your Alumni eNews for 2014.

This year is an exciting one for the University and our graduates with many faculties and groups celebrating their 50th anniversaries.

These will be the first of many anniversaries over the next few years as Monash faculties and schools meet the exciting milestone.

The Faculty of Law have launched their 2014 celebrations announcing a range of events for alumni and students including a gala dinner in June.

The Faculty of Education is also getting set to honour their history this year with events to be announced very soon – we’ll keep you posted.

Reunions will also be popular during the next few years. If you treaded the boards as part of the Monash Ballroom Dancing Club (now Monash DanceSports) make sure you get in touch with the committee. Ben and Karryn are busy organising the club’s 50th reunion for next year.

Make sure your don’t miss out on any of these upcoming events - keep your details up-to-date via our Alumni login. You can also keep an eye on our event calendar for more reunions and events of interest to you.

Congratulations to the 29 alumni who received Australia Day Honours this year. It’s wonderful to read of the many achievements and remarkable contribution our graduates make. Congratulations to our President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Ed Byrne AC who received Australia’s highest civic honour – the Companion of the Order of Australia.

This month you will also read that the University Council has announced the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor. Professor Margaret Gardner AO - the ninth Vice-Chancellor of Monash University, and the first woman to serve in the role – will commence at Monash later this year.

I hope you enjoy reading this edition.

Best wishes
