Eric Lim

Eric Lim

Eric Lim is a graduate of the David Syme Faculty of Business, 1997. His friendly and confident demeanour is offset by his wit and a keen eye for creativity. While reflecting on his student days, Eric says “My stay at the Caulfield campus was all too brief but it was an exciting and special time in my life. Most people tell you that uni years are the best in your life – they are, pay attention!!!"

Eric's university days concluded with his induction into the Golden Key National Honour Society as one of the top 15% of Monash graduates that year. Digital Equipment Malaysia (now HP Malaysia) gave him his first job where he began to mould his career in IT.

That faith was rewarded over four years of loyal service and over $40M in accumulated sales revenue. Being in the IT industry was a natural progression for anyone passionate about gadgets and all things high-tech. Although not embroiled in his first-love of marketing, Eric found his role as an Account Manager for Enterprise Business both challenging and rewarding, as exemplified by a reward trip to Puerto Rico during his first year of service. Eric cites those days as amongst the best of his career thus far.

Harbouring secret ambitions to be a car-designer cum game-industry marketer, he continues to be envious of people in either profession. “It must be innately gratifying to have your work influence and polarize opinions and where creativity is the only hindrance to a great idea."

Eric enjoys computer & console games, table tennis and other racquet games, is an ardent fan of motorsports and football (especially Leeds United!). He is currently employed at IBM Malaysia. And what of the future? “I’m passionate about pursuing my original dreams of being a marketer, of building a future which liberates me from the rat-race and building a wonderful home with my lovely wife, and it may not necessarily be here in Malaysia."
