Monash alumni network - Monash University Alumni Singapore (MUAS) - has been awarded Australian Alumni Singapore’s 2014 Outstanding University Alumni Association Award.

MUAS beat out networks from University of Adelaide, University of Melbourne, University of Newcastle, University of Queensland and University of South Australia to win the award.

Founded in 1996, MUAS is one of Monash University’s most established alumni networks supporting more than 10,000 Singapore-based graduates.

The MUAS committee offers a range of services to its members including networking events, professional development opportunities, outdoor activities, and community outreach activities. The group also collaborates with other alumni associations to organise joint activities.

Outgoing MUAS President Kartika Angkawijaya said it was an honour to receive the award.

“This award is recognition of all the hard work and dedication the committee has put in to ensure our program of events and activities is well organised as well as of benefit to the alumni community,” Ms Angkawijaya said.

Monash University Alumni Relations Manager Viv Norman congratulated MUAS on their achievement.

“It is a well-deserved honour,” she said.

“It is a delight to work with such committed and talented volunteers.

"Thank you to all MUAS members for your tireless efforts in representing the interests of Monash University alumni in Singapore.”

MUAS has recently elected its new committee for 2015 with Chris Williams and Dr Charles Ong installed as president and vice-president respectively.
