Monash University's US alumni network has brought together two leading figures in the technology sector. As reported recently in the Australian Financial Review [AFR], alumnus Andrew McKeon (BEc 1992) will join the board of Karl Redenbach's (BA 1999, LLB 2000) ASX-listed LiveTiles where he will advise on marketing and social media strategy.
"We're lucky to have him, he's helped a lot of global giants grapple with their social and mobile strategies," Karl told the AFR.
Andrew is the Global Customer Marketing Lead at Facebook where he advises their biggest customers on marketing through the platform. He told the AFR that he wanted to apply his experience to help LiveTiles in improving its marketing and managing its business growth.
LiveTiles creates products that allow businesses to offer their employees access to content across a single cloud-based platform. Karl founded LiveTiles in Australia with his business partner, Peter Nguyen-Brown, in 2014 and the company has expanded with offices in the US and UK.
Karl is a member of the Monash US East Coast Global Leaders' Group and has been actively involved in alumni activities, including being instrumental in delivering the New York Global Discovery Program. Monash currently has 2000 alumni based in the US.
Andrew and Karl met at a Monash alumni event in San Francisco where Karl was presenting to senior alumni on the development of the East Coast Global Leaders' Group and future opportunities for US alumni activities.
The New York Global Discovery Program will be running for the third year in 2017. The immersive internship gives eight Monash students a money can't buy opportunity to visit New York for eight days to meet with some of Monash's most successful alumni and learn from their experiences. It follows on from the recent London Global Discovery Program that ran for the first time in February 2017.
