Scholarships help realise a student’s dream
Monash student Satya Hallewas, has wanted to be a doctor ever since she can remember.
“Even when I was a young child, the answer to ‘what do you want to do when you grow up?’ was always been the same,” she says.
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you who supported Achieving Potential Scholarships, Satya has the opportunity to pursue her dream of helping those who are the most in need of medical services.
Satya, is from an indigenous background, has lived with her mother – a single parent – her whole life. Satya has witnessed first-hand the poor access some communities have to health and education.
“It has stayed with me and I’d like to support those people who don’t have access to the privileged lifestyle we’re accustomed to in the city. I want to give back with my skills as a health care professional,” she says.
In 2017 our community of alumni and donors like you have together contributed over $360,000 to help students like Satya. Your support is ensuring more students make the leap into a University education.
Satya stated “We lived on the edge of poverty and had to count every dollar to get by.” Unlike many other students, I have no-one else to fall back on. My scholarship is my safety net.
“I’d just like to say ‘thank you’ to the Monash supporters who’ve contributed to my scholarship. Your donations really have had a positive impact on my life. The scholarship allows me to put more time into my studies, do well and make an actual difference in the world.”
Thank you again to the generosity of our donors. You can still make a difference to a student’s life and future. For further information visit the scholarship page.
