Orientation - Invitation to Staff to Attend
Welcome Breakfast, Smoking & Welcome Ceremonies
The official Monash University orientation welcome ceremony for new
students to Caulfield Campus will be held at 9.15 am on Wednesday, 26 February 2003 in Chisholm Hall. The Caulfield Orientation Committee
is keen to see a good attendance of staff, both academic and general, at the ceremony. The academic procession will be lead into Chisholm Hall
by a didgeridoo player. There will be words of welcome from the Academic Director, Professor
Rob Willis, from the Mayor of the City of Glen Eira, Cr Peter Goudge, and from the Student Union President, Mr Tim Wilson. If you haven't attended an orientation welcome
ceremony in your time at Caulfield campus come along and see what it is all about.
A 'welcome' breakfast will be provided from 8.15 am on the Common Lawn and we are keen that new students, student volunteers and staff will
mix
informally before the ceremony. We will also be having an Aboriginal elder performing a smoking ceremony (involving fire and gum leaves)
to cleanse the land during the breakfast.
Come and take part in this campus community event! If you have any queries please contact Helen Dunne on x31595.

Inaugural Caulfield Campus Social Tennis
Tournament - Mixed Doubles
A campus social tennis mixed doubles tournament for staff and students will be held from 12-2pm over the two weeks of March 17 and March 24.
Interested participants will have their names put into 'a hat' and
mixed double pairings will then be drawn out. A match draw will then be distributed to participants. It will be a knock-out competition with
pairs eliminated in the build-up to a grand final at the end of the second week. Participants will play for the 2003 'John White' Social
Tennis Tournament Award and winning pairs' names will be engraved on a permanent plaque. Grand finalists will each receive a trophy to keep.
Participants will be asked to register (and pay a $2 entry fee) at the Fitness Centre. There will be limited places so those interested will
need to get in early! Specific details and further information will
follow in a campus-wide email next week. This social tennis tournament gives those involved the opportunity to meet some fellow staff and
students in a relaxed and healthy activity. This event is supported by Monash University Sport, the Campus Manager's Office and Facilities
and Services. Any queries please contact Helen Dunne on x31595.
