This means student exchanges, scholarships and financial aid to help you along your educational journey. We're also creating exciting research collaborations, further professional development for graduates and commercial opportunities for industry.

University Partnerships

Sichuan University, Chengdu

Monash and Sichuan collaborate in fields as diverse as climate change, disaster prevention and the clinical application of stem cells in immunology to European studies and Human Resource Management.

Southeast University, Nanjing

Monash has active research relationships with Southeast University and is exploring the development of a joint graduate school offering Masters & PhD programs.

Fudan University

Monash and Fudan have established a dual award PhD program in chemical engineering. The program offers students an opportunity to broaden their learning and research experience in an overseas environment and builds closer co-operation between the two institutions.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Monash has a 2+2 program in Mechanical-Aerospace Engineering, which Mechanical Engineering students study for the first two years at SJTU, then transfer to Monash for the third and fourth year of study. Both institutions have also established a dual award PhD program in Material Engineering.


Chinese Academy of Sciences

This partnership is creating researcher-to-researcher links in the fields of clean energy and fuel cell technologies, immunology and advanced information technology.

Australia-China Centre for Excellence in Stem Cell Research - Monash and Peking University

This centre is a joint initiative between Peking and Monash University. The exchange of researchers, expert knowledge and advanced scientific technologies between the two learning institutions has resulted in advanced investigations into stem cell science and new commercial potentials.

China Scholarship Council (CSC)

Monash and CSC have established a collaborative scholarship program to attract high quality Chinese students to undertake PhD. A number of candidates each year will be awarded scholarships that cover tuition fees and provide a living allowances for up to three years in the first instance. Priority areas include Energy, Information Technology, Education, Advanced Materials, Disaster Prevention and International Business. Find out more:

Student mobility

Group of 8 – C9 Student Exchange Program

Monash is a member of the Group of Eight (Go8) - Australia's most prestigious and research-focused universities. Under this program, students will have the opportunity to study under exchange without payment of fees. This will help students prepare for a global workforce.

Chinese In-country Program

Monash sends students from Australia, Malaysia and South Africa to China for an intensive three or six week fully accredited language and culture program. Current collaborative partners include:

  • Shanghai International Studies University
  • University of International Business and Economics
  • Civil Aviation Management Institute of China
  • East China Normal University and Beijing Language and Culture University

Monash Marketing Study Program China

The Monash Marketing Study Program China is undertaken in a range of cities across China including Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Yiwu and Hangzhou. Students are given the opportunity to meet and speak directly with top marketing executives of some of the leading organisations operating in China, both locally and internationally owned, in this two week program.

Australia-China Consortium on Engineering Education and Research (ACCEER)

Monash is part of an industry-university engineering consortium consisting of the Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (CHALCO), Central South University, Rio Tinto, Wuhan Iron & Steel (Group) Corporation and Wuhan University of Technology. The consortium's activities include 2+2 undergraduate programs, joint staff appointment and research collaborations.
