Can you tell us about your current role?

"I was a primary teacher for ten years, mainly in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. During this time I also worked as an Equal Employment Opportunity Consultant with the Department of Education. I then worked with the education unions in Victoria. During this period I was elected to the State Superannuation Board as a Director. I went on to hold other Director and Chair positions on superannuation, health and education boards. Since then, I have been CEO at industry super fund HESTA for over 15 years. The best part of the role is knowing that we will be able to make a difference to the lifestyle our members will enjoy in retirement. One of the highlights of my career has been seeing success in all of my roles where improvements have been made for those people less advantaged."

Advice for future students?

"Commit to what you are doing to ensure success. You don't know everything all of the time; learn from others, but keep to your principles."
