Bass by Kayak

Premiere Film Screening & Workshop

Bass by Kayak

Friday 10 March, Monash Peninsula Campus

Join us for a screening of Bass by Kayak. Roughly 300 people have crossed from mainland Australia to Tasmania in a sea kayak via the islands of Bass Strait. No feature film has ever been created. This is the story of Beau Miles and his small party of expedition members as they make the crossing in March of 2016.

This is a free event, with canapés and beverages provided. Registration is essential.

Workshop

Using digital media in outdoor education to represent the journey

As well as discussing themes and leading ideas about this topic’s relevance to outdoor education (to year 10), we will also discuss how it might be applied to VCE Units 1 - 4.

Covered in this professional development session:

  • Case Study: Representing micro-adventures on social media using images and short films by Mitch Drummond.
  • Open discussion: How we represent ourselves when we journey.
Discussion will be based around images and 10-15 second film vignettes of different journey representations. What can art, cinema, social media, film making and photography add to the outdoor education experience?
