Course transfers
Course Transfer Procedures
Purpose
Provides guidance to staff and students regarding the criteria for transferring into the Faculty’s coursework programs.
Scope
This policy applies to:
- all campuses of operation;
- all Faculty coursework programs at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level;
- all currently enrolled Monash University coursework students.
Procedure statement
The Faculty will determine whether places are available for course transfers. This procedure does not apply to students wanting to change their fee status or those seeking to transfer to Monash from other institutions. A student who wishes to apply for a course transfer into a Faculty coursework program must meet the published admission requirements for the course. This includes required prerequisites (e.g. English Language requirements) and where relevant, non-academic selection tests (e.g. MTeST or CASPER)
The Faculty will assess course transfers based on University minimum selection criteria. In addition:
- Intra Faculty of Education transfer (existing Faculty of Education students) must have obtained a 60% average in their current year of study.
- Inter Faculty of Education transfer (non Faculty of Education students) must have obtained a 60% average in their current year of study.
- Where the course transfer is to a double degree with Education, the student must have obtained a 65% average in their current study. The minimum requirements of the other Faculty will also be observed.
Admission to a course on the basis of course transfer is subject to a competitive process, the actual requirement for admission may be higher than stated above.
Where the minimum selection criteria is not met additional documentary evidence may be submitted with the course transfer application. In exceptional circumstances, this evidence may be considered by the Education Success Adviser team during the selection process.
Students with incomplete grades or results will not be provided with a course transfer outcome until such time that all outstanding results are finalised.
