The eEducation team

A leading researcher in evolutionary biology, Professor Gordon Sanson is also the founding Director of the eEducation Centre. Professor Sanson brings with him a unique set of skills as an educator, leader and innovator, who is committed to improving student engagement at all levels. He is also engaged in active research in biology and education, and continues to be involved in teaching large classes of biology students.

Nathan Bailey, the architect of Monash's staff and student portal, my.monash (http://my.monash.edu/), is the Centre's Associate Director. He has presented at national and international conferences on learning and ICT in higher education, and ran his own business in the past. Nathan currently oversees a range of educational projects and activities within the eEducation Centre.

Administration

Kerryn Morey is the Executive Officer at the eEducation Centre. Kerryn has worked at Monash University for six years. Her previous roles have been as the International Programs Officer at the Faculty of Law and as the Administrative Manager at the Monash Prato Centre in Italy.

Jean Hart is the Administration Officer at the eEducation Centre, bringing with her extensive EA/PA and administration experience working for Senior Management both in the public and private sector. Jean currently provides executive support to the Director and Associate Director, and undertakes diary management, general administration, finance and HR assistance for the Centre.

Research

Dr Katharina Franke manages the research program at the eEducation Centre, involving a range of education, technology and learning space projects. To her role as Research Coordinator, she brings a general enthusiasm for learning, acquiring new skills, and researching emerging trends.

Software development

Chris Hagan leads the eEducation software development team. He brings years of programming experience from Thoughtworks and freelance work. He is also a certified and experienced nurse.

Dave Hagan was previously a teacher at Western Port Secondary College. During that time,  he implemented and maintained the computerised student reporting system as well as training other staff in its use. He is now responsible for systems administration, tech-support co-ordination and graphic design.

Stuart James completed his Computer Science degree at Monash University in 2007. He then gained invaluable educational software experience working with Editure for a year. He joined the eEducation Centre in early 2009 and has been primarily responsible for writing software for the last two years.

Learning spaces

Ian Hutchinson is the Learning Spaces Project Officer and manages the learning spaces software, supports the appropriate use of the S15 learning space and tests and evaluates software.

Service delivery

Hannah Anderson joined the eEducation Centre in October 2010 and leads service delivery for eEducation projects. Her previous project management experience crosses the public, private and not-for-profit sectors and includes radiation and legionella health protection government projects.

Michael Phillips was a secondary school teacher for 14 years. He now lectures in ICT within the Faculty of Education at Monash. He also works with the eEducation Centre as an instructional designer to assist teaching staff and other project participants to integrate technology into their pedagogical practice.

Marianne Hicks has taught International Studies and History at Monash University in Melbourne and at the Johannesburg campus in South Africa before joining the eEducation Centre as Instructional Designer. As a media historian, she has a strong interest in new media and participatory culture in an educational context.

Kristin Saville brings experience in administration and organisational process management. She developed her skills primarily on the stage of various theatre projects where her roles have included director, stage manager, and producer. In her spare time she is heavily involved with various roles in theatre arts, both on stage and off.
