Monash appoints international energy expert as Honorary Industry Fellow

A global thought leader on innovation within electricity networks has  been appointed to a key advisory position with Monash University

Dr Lawrence Jones, Vice-President of the Edison Electric Institute, has been  named an Honorary Industry Fellow within Monash’s Department of Electrical and  Computer Systems Engineering. He will join the Monash Energy Materials and  Systems Institute (MEMSI) Industry Advisory  Board  to provide insight on how  best to deploy innovation into the electricity sector, as well as providing broad  and valuable contributions to MEMSI and Monash University through his  insightful lectures and thought leadership.

Dr Jones is  a trained electrical engineer with a PhD from the Royal institute of  Technology in Stockholm and is passionate about the electrification of developing nations.

The  Director of MEMSI, Associate Professor Jacek Jasieniak, welcomed Dr Jones’  appointment.

“MEMSI is  focused on solving global energy challenges through strong partnerships with  industry, government and other research organisations from across the world. Dr Jones is a highly respected expert in this field and we look forward to working  with him,”  he  said.
