89. Inclement Weather
89.1 Definition
Inclement weather will mean the existence of rain or abnormal climatic conditions (whether they be those of hail, snow, cold, high wind, severe dust storm, extreme high temperatures or the like) by virtue of which it is unsafe for staff members to continue working when exposed to this weather.
89.2 Temperature Measurement
Temperature will be measured by the nearest automatic Melbourne Bureau of Meteorology Monitoring Station. At the commencement of each shift, the onsite management and staff representatives shall agree which is to be the applicable automatic weather monitoring station.
89.3 Working Arrangements
It is agreed that, in the event of inclement weather, consultation will be held between the onsite management and staff concerned to ensure that work can continue in a safe and secure manner.
In all cases, consideration will be given to ensuring that a safe workplace is provided and safe systems of working are employed.
The parties agree that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure that a full working understanding of the inclement weather procedures is achieved and maintained throughout the University.
The issue of inclement weather will be discussed with all staff members so that they understand the following requirements:
