About online training

Aims and purpose

Monash University is committed to providing an environment for students and staff that is free from all forms of unlawful discrimination and sexual harassment.

This EO online training is based on Australian legislation and provides information on basic rights and responsibilities for staff based on these laws. As an international university Monash has in place an Equal Opportunity Policy which highlights the importance of recognising other jurisdictions and their legislative requirements.

The University also provides further training for staff wanting greater familiarity with the University's policies and procedures and who wish to develop specific skills for dealing with, responding to and managing equal opportunity related grievances. EO Online Training is a prerequisite for such further training.

To maintain currency staff are required to complete this training every three years.

Structure

EO Online Training should take around 60 minutes. The training consists of four modules and three quizzes.

 Legal Overview (followed by a quiz);
• Sexual Harassment and the Law (followed by a quiz);
• Equal Opportunity for Women, and
• Disability Law and Access (followed by a quiz).

These modules can be undertaken in any order at any time. A perfect score on all three quizzes is required to successfully complete the EO Online Training. There is no time limit for completion of quizzes or to the number of times a quiz can be attempted.

Privacy statement

The Equity and Diversity Centre maintains a confidential and secure record of the names of participants and dates of successful completion of the EO Online Training. This information is only accessed by relevant Equity and Diversity staff members and disclosed only to relevant Monash University staff members.

The primary purpose of collecting this information is to meet the University's obligations under Federal and State anti-discrimination legislation. Other purposes of collection include attending to administrative matters, program evaluation and corresponding with you. De-identified information will be used for reporting purposes and for the preparation of various statistical analyses.

You have a right to access personal information that the university holds about you, subject to any exceptions in relevant legislation.
