Mentoring Scheme for Women

The Monash University Mentoring Scheme for Women is conducted every two years. The next Scheme will take place in 2013. If you would like to register your interest in participating in the 2013 Scheme, please send an email to barbara.dalton@monash.edu

The Monash University Mentoring Scheme for Women aims to increase women's (academic and professional) access to the learning and developmental opportunities provided by a mentoring relationship.

Mentoring partnerships are often a feature of organisational life and involve a senior, more experienced individual (the mentor) facilitating the learning and development of a more junior, less experienced individual (the mentee) by offering support, information and advice about career planning and skill development, and access to organisational knowledge and networks.

The Monash University Mentoring Scheme for Women matches each successful applicant to the program (mentee) with a more senior mentor (male or female) from another area of the University for a period of 6 months.  Both members of the mentoring partnership are required to attend a preparation session where the structure and process of the Scheme is explained.  Pairs then meet at negotiated times throughout the program.
