The Monash Campus Grid (MCG)

The Monash Campus Grid (MCG) provides a variety of high-performance computing capabilities. For access email: merc@adm.monash.edu.au , or contact Russell Keil (ext. 54782) / Anthony Beitz (ext. 58681).

Ongoing development of the MCG is described here. A unified access process covering MCG, VPAC and NCI high performance computing facilities is currently being developed.

The Monash Campus Grid (MCG) high performance computing facilities currently comprise:

• Monash Sun Grid (MSG) – central Monash compute facility 
• Monash Green SPONGE – harvested capacity on desktop computers using CONDOR  
• Faculty of Information Technology compute cluster facilities – using NIMROD
• Large Research Data Store (LaRDS) – central storage facility    

• Components of the Monash Campus Grid (MCG) can be accessed in a variety of ways:

• Login to the MSG head node
• Using Globus
• Using NIMROD (for more information on NIMROD, see here)     
• Using CONDOR

Mathematical analysis packages

Monash is currently reviewing whether it is feasible to establish a site license for MatLab.

In addition, a number of popular public domain analysis packages are available on the Monash Campus Grid:

• R 
• Octave
• Scilab
