Wildlife of Gondwana Exhibition Primary information

| Description: | Gondwana was once a great southern continent millions and millions of years ago. Australia, India, Antarctica, South America and Africa were all parts of it. A wonderful menagerie of animals and plants inhabited this ancient land, and their fossils (including dinosaurs, giant lizards and gargantuan ducks!)are on show in this exhibition. Stunning reconstruction art by reknowned Australian painter Peter Trusler brings these ancient relics to life as do a number of documentaries. |

| Description: | Louise Lightfoot (1902-1978) spent her life bringing together Western and Indian classical and modern dance traditions. The Monash Music Department-Conservatorium is the custodian of her costumes, books, manuscripts, notes and scrapbooks which in this display were arranged by the renowned Australian-Indian dancer and choreographer Tara Rajkumar, Director of Performing Arts, Monash Asia Institute.

| Description: | Co-hosted by Asia Pacific Business Regulation Group, Department of Business Law and Taxation, Monash University and the Centre of Comparative and Public Law, Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong.
China and Vietnam have much in common, a Confucian past, socialist influenced legal systems, and rapidly developing economies and societies. Yet a comparative assessment of legal development in these countries has not been undertaken. This is a missed opportunity because studying their similarities and differences is likely to produce valuable insights into the role ideas and path dependencies play in shaping legal development. Leading scholars from Asia, Australia and the US will present papers that analyse how different legal ideas and practices arose and shape the trajectory of legal development in this region.
