Spend 8 days in New York City on an international internship

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to accelerate your global career options.

The Global Discovery Program New York City 2017 is an eight-day immersive, international internship with exclusive access to influential global Monash alumni and their networks. This year’s Program is brought to you by Monash University, The Monash Global Leaders’ Group East Coast USA and The8App.

If successful, you could be one of eight students headed to New York City in June 2017 where you will visit Monash’s most prominent alumni in their current workplace and be inspired by their career pathways from student to Global Leader.

We've extended the application deadline to 12pm (midday), Monday 1 May 2017

Your flight departs 24 June 2017.

What's included?

  • return economy flights to New York City from Melbourne or eligible location
  • hotel accommodation for eight nights
  • transfers to/from hotel and airport in New York City
  • insurance (travel and medical)
  • $200 discretionary spending money as a Monash Abroad scholarship

How to apply

Check your eligibility

You must:

  • be 18+ years of age
  • a domestic or international student enrolled in a full-time or part-time, university level award course at Monash University, in Semester one 2017
  • a student studying at either a domestic or international Monash campus, or studying off-campus (e.g. by correspondence)
  • of a good academic standing as determined by the Program Partners
  • hold a valid passport
  • be able to obtain a USA travel visa
  • be able to travel 24 June – 3 July 2017

What do I have to do?

Submit a 30 second video on the theme ‘Where will your ideas take you? Just imagine…’ and follow these seven steps.

  1. Download The 8App and create an account. Need help? (pdf 683kb)
  2. Set up a YouTube or Vimeo account too, if you don't already have one.
  3. Create a 30 second video on the theme ‘Where will your ideas take you? Just imagine...’.
  4. Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo, tag it #monashdiscovery and #justimagine and ensure the video settings are set to public. Copy your video URL
  5. In The 8App, paste your video URL into the 'link to YouTube and Vimeo' field
  6. Add a description and caption to your video. Make sure you include Monash Global Discovery Program New York City 2017 and the hashtags #monashdiscovery and #just imagine
  7. Using The 8App, share your video to your social networks
  8. using your Monash University student email account, complete the application form.

Haven’t produced many videos? Don’t worry. We’re looking for original and inspiring messaging more than Hollywood style productions.
