7.7 Tracking examination

7.7.1 Dispatch of thesis

Theses are dispatched once all examination requirements have been met.

The PDF thesis is dispatched electronically. If a thermal copy is required, it will be sent; once the examiner has provided their postal address.

7.7.2 Student notification

Students will receive an email notification at the time of thesis dispatch. Students are reminded that it may take between four and six months before an examination result is finalised.

7.7.3 Duration of examination

Examiners are given eight weeks to complete their reports. Examiners are requested to contact Monash Graduate Education should an extension be required. Students will be notified of any extensions.

Reminders are issued to examiners one week ahead of the deadline. Monash Graduate Education will manage overdue examiner reports on a case by case basis. Unacceptable delays will be resolved in consultation with the head of the academic unit and main supervisor. A replacement examiner may be appointed.

If the examiners are not unanimous in recommending a thesis pass, then the examination process may be prolonged.

7.7.4 Contact with examiners

Students and supervisors must not contact examiners during the examination process in matters pertaining to the thesis examination. Any correspondence must be through Monash Graduate Education.
