Accepting your scholarship offer – international students

If you are awarded a scholarship as a new commencing international student, you must accept your scholarship before you can be sent an International Student Course Agreement (ISCA).

If you are unable to commence by the preferred commencement date/s set by your faculty, you must submit the completed deferral form before the ISCA can be sent to you. The deferral form is available from the accepting your scholarship offer page.

As international students are required to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the length of their student visa, you need to pay particular attention to how much of your OSHC your scholarship covers, if any.

Once you accept a scholarship offer and a request for deferral (if required) has been approved, you will receive your ISCA, which includes a request for a deposit on your tuition fees and OSHC if your scholarship doesn’t cover these costs.

You must pay all fees before you can receive your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE), which you need, along with visa-length OSHC, when applying to the Australian Government for your student visa.

OSHC and tuition scholarships

You don’t need to pay OSHC if you have been offered an:

Monash International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (MIPRS)
Vera Moore International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (VMIPRS)

The above scholarships cover your tuition fees and the cost of your OSHC for the length of your student visa.

The Monash University Institute of Graduate Research pays your OSHC for the length of your visa through our preferred provider, OSHC Allianz.

OSHC, tuition fees and the Monash Graduate Scholarship (MGS)

If you’re an international student and awarded an MGS, which pays a fortnightly living allowance, you must pay all your OSHC as well as your tuition fees.

After accepting your scholarship online, you will receive your ISCA with a request to pay your OSHC for the length of your visa and a deposit on your tuition fees.

OSHC, tuition fees and faculty tuition scholarships

If your faculty or academic unit offers you a scholarship that pays your tuition fees and OSHC, it will arrange to pay your course-fee deposit and OSHC for the length of the scholarship.

If you receive a faculty scholarship that doesn’t cover your OSHC, you must pay OSHC cover for the length of your visa.

Make sure you read your faculty scholarship offer letter carefully to be clear about what the scholarship covers and what you’re required to pay.

Once you accept your scholarship offer online, you will receive your ISCA, which will include a request to pay your course-fee deposit and OSHC if required.
