Bupa Australia - Diabetes

bupa

Monash has developed a breakthrough mobile health solution for educating Australians living with Type 2 diabetes in collaboration with Boston University, the University of Queensland, and Queensland University of Technology. The collaboration has resulted in a best practice mobile tool enabling patients to more successfully manage their diabetes symptoms, resulting in improved health outcomes and reduced costs. The system is designed to monitor and coach people with Type 2 diabetes to improve their nutrition, physical activity, blood glucose testing and taking of medication, complementing the work of health care providers.

The technology has been licensed to Bupa Australia and trials funded by the NHMRC are underway to validate the system. Following successful conclusion of the trials, it is expected that Bupa will commercialise the system in a number of countries, addressing the need to develop new approaches for managing chronic disease.
