Chile Bicentennial Scholarships![]() In July 2008, Universities Australia and the Government of the Republic of Chile established the “Chile-Australia Agreement on Human Capital Development”. The agreement supports up to 500 fully funded Chilean PhD and Masters students each year to study in Australian universities over the next five to ten years. This program is aimed to improve Chile’s global competitiveness by strengthening its human capital development and improving the scope and quality of education, scientific & technological research and innovation. Cooperation between Australia and Chile will involve the following programs:
Priority fields of study for Chilean scholarship recipients and joint research programs could include among others:
The scholarships support scholars’ living expenses while studying in Australia; tuition fees for scholarship holders not financially funded by Australian universities; and return economy air travel. Each year, in collaboration with the Chilean Bicentennial Committee for Human Capital Development, Universities Australia will determine the number of university places available in Australia. Universities Australia will provide scholarship holders with information on student visas and assist with applications to Australian universities.
