US-Australian Dialogue on Water Management and Drought Solutions

G’Day USA is an annual initiative by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to showcase Australian capabilities to the US market.

On 13 April 2017, MSDI’s Prof Rebekah Brown will be delivering a keynote presentation at the US-Australian Dialogue on Water Management and Drought Solutions. The event will take place at Stanford University in San Francisco and bring together Australian and US water experts to discuss practical  solutions to long term water management.

Rebekah will present a five-year Monash led global water project that focuses on revitalisation of 24 informal settlements in Indonesia and Fiji. The Wellcome Trust has recently awarded funding of $14 million to this interdisciplinary research project that will make a significant positive impact on  some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. Project partners include: Asian Development Bank, Co-operative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities, Stanford University, Emory University, University of Melbourne, World Health Organisation, Oxfam and WaterAid.
