ISS Newsletter

September 2007

Dear Students,

We wish you well as you continue on with your studies for Semester 2, 2007.  Please do not hesitate to visit the international Student Support offices for any concerns you may have.

Please take some time to read the following important information:

1. Early Warning Letters

Some students may have received an "Early Warning Letter" from their Faculty recently.  As the name suggests, and early warning letter is sent to those students who are potentially at risk of not mainitaing satisfactory academic progress for the 2007 academic year.  The main purpose of an early warning letter is to encourage you to seek help and support so that you can improve your academic performance this semester and avoid the possibility of being called to appear before an Academic Progress Committee (APC)  in December-January.

International Students must meet course requirements in order to hold a student visa.  Appearing before an APC hearing may jeopardise your visa.

Staff from ISS can explain the whole APC hearing process to you and go through the potential impacts on your student visa.   We can connect you to the various support services, in your Faculty and on campus, that are availiable to help you right now.  We strongly  recommend that you make an appointment to see an International Student Adviser (ISA) in September.

Don't leave things until it's too late - if you have received an early warning letter make an appointment to see an ISA today.
