1 You submit your application

Applications are made online. Check out the JDP application guidance and apply to Warwick or Monash. Both institutions provide extra guidance on applying for research degrees. Have a look at the advice given by Warwick and Monash, bearing in mind that this guidance doesn't necessarily always apply to the Alliance JDP.

Australian students should apply through Monash and UK/EU students should apply to Warwick. If you are an international student outside of these countries you should apply to the University at which you wish to start your course.

2 Your application is received by either Warwick or Monash

Your completed form will be sent to the Postgraduate Admissions team. You can contact Warwick's Postgraduate Admissions team and Monash's Institute of Graduate Research with any enquiries about the application process. At each stage of review, the reviewers will ask:

  • Is the applicant eligible for admission to the course of study?
  • Is their proposed project or topic in a designated area for which supervision exists at both universities?
  • Has the applicant been successful in gaining a scholarship?
  • If the scholarship pool has been exhausted, and they are of sufficient academic calibre, can they demonstrate sufficient personal or other resources to enable them to undertake the course of study and manage the additional expenses associated with the Joint Program?

3 Your application is reviewed by the receiving institution

The Admissions team will review your application against basic criteria such as your previous academic achievements. Please be sure to check the entry requirements before you apply. Have a look at the FAQs for more information.

4 Your application is reviewed by the Joint Selection committee

If your application is successful in the initial review, it will be passed to the Joint Selection committee. Made up of staff from both institutions, this committee will review all aspects of your application and decide on its suitability for admission on to the course and the relevant funding scheme.

5 You receive an offer

If your application is successful in the review by the Joint Selection Committee, you will receive an offer by email. This message will give details of any conditions you need to satisfy and will clarify any funding arrangements. Be sure to follow any instructions given.

You may now decide to accept the offer, whcih you will do via an online form. You may also decline your offer at this stage.
