Thai-Australia Science & Engineering Assistance

TASEAP was a AUD$ 20 million, AusAID funded initiative which contributed to the development of curriculum, teaching and research in the faculties of Science and Engineering in 21 Thai public universities.   As part of TASEAP, MIP recruited 140 Short Term Advisers from 22 Australian universities who provided advice and training to 21 universities in Thailand on engineering and science curriculum development, teaching development, research development, and industry linkages.  MIP also managed over 130 two-month Thai fellowships in Australia.  The project made significant contributions to policy development in the Thai Ministry of University Affairs and has facilitated the formation of long term linkages between Thai and Australian universities.

Current Practices in Adult Training Methods - Philippines

Monash International Projects worked with the Faculty of Education to design and deliver this 4-week training course in the Philippines and Australia to 20 Filipino civil servants. The course aimed to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to plan and conduct effective teaching and learning sessions for specific cohorts of adult learners.

Engineering Education Management

Monash International Projects worked with the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Engineering to deliver a training course in Jakarta and Melbourne to 28 academics and government officials from various tertiary education institutions in Indonesia.  The four week course focused on all aspects of engineering education management, curriculum and teaching development, faculty planning and management, research development.

Hong Kong University English Teacher

Monash International Projects worked with theFaculty of Education  to design and deliver an 8 week Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) Training Program for Postgraduate Students from the University of Hong Kong.  The program aimed to expose the students to current and innovative Australian and international teaching and learning methodologies, and provide them with valuable networking opportunities with Faculty staff and other international and local students via cultural and social events.

Thai University Administrators Shadowing Project

Location: Thailand and Australia
Donor: AVCC
Duration: September - November 2001

Monash International Projects was contracted by the Australian Vice Chancellor's Committee (AVCC) to host two consecutive groups of senior Thai university administrators in Australia. The administrators spent three weeks at Monash before being hosted by Swinburne University. The administrators examined university planning and management systems in Australia to provide a context for their responses to the ongoing reforms in higher education in Thailand. Monash International Projects provided pastoral care and project management services to the AVCC under the Project.

Australian Development Scholarship Scheme (AusAID)

Monash International has successfully tendered for the management of international students sponsored under the Australian Development Scholarship Scheme (ADS). Monash International's International Scholarship Unit will provide a wide range of student support and project management services to AusAID for all scholarship students from developing countries studying at Monash University under ADS.

South Pacific In-Country Training Project

Location: Suva, Fiji

Duration: 2003 – 2004

Monash International Projects designed a number of competency based training courses in Fiji, as part of the overall education and training assistance component of Australia’s development assistance program to the South Pacific. The In Country Training (ICT) project aims to provide Australasian expertise to design and deliver in-country training in prioritised areas where local expertise is not available. This training is delivered by Australian consultants in conjunction with local counterparts, where possible. The workshops were focused on skills training in the areas of Strategic Planning for Urban Centres and Rural Areas, Shares Portfolio Management and Small and Medium Sized Enterprise Development.
