This project, commissioned by the Victorian Department of Natural Resources and Environment, involved the development of a conceptual framework and a set of principles to guide natural resource management (NRM) R&D investment decisions, both generally and in support of the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (NAP).

Review Of The Lower Goulburn Floodplain Rehabilitation

Duration: April - July 2003

A team of academics from Monash University provided an independent review of the work done to date on the Lower Goulburn Rehabilitation Project, proposed by the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority.  The review will help to inform future decisions by the Victorian and Commonwealth governments in relation to the Lower Goulburn region.

Land Stewardship Social Research Project

As part of the Land Stewardship Project, a team of academics from the Monash Environment Institute undertook research on the attitudes and perceptions of land managers (including farmers) about the benefits of and barriers to changes in land management practices. The project aimed to: assess land owner/manager opinions on policy and program proposals that support change in their land management practices in order to achieve sustainability; and identify strategies that can be used by the Victorian Government to facilitate the adoption of sustainable land management practices.

Report on the Analysis Of Plastic Bags Disposal Options

Monash International Projects and the Monash Environment Institute (MEI) were commissioned by the Council for the Encouragement of Philanthropy in Australia (CEPA) to undertake a study into the environmental impacts of plastic supermarket bags, and to investigate several options to mitigate the identified impacts.
