Supporting the Preparation of the Law on Gender EqualityLocation: Viet Nam The purpose of this project is to support the Government of Vietnam to develop a law on gender equality with a view to reducing poverty and inequality based on gender. The TA's specific objectives are to (i) facilitate the process of gender mainstreaming in drafting and amending legislation, (ii) build gender-sensitive legal institutions, and (iii) enhance gender awareness in the legal system. Scoping/Design of Indonesia's National Commission on ViolenceLocation: Jakarta, Indonesia The project was designed and funded under the Legal Reform Program Facility (LRP), a $5m program funded by AusAID, to assist Indonesia in reforming its legal system by promoting good governance and the implementation of the rule of law through functional, transparent and accountable legal institutions. Under this subprogram, Monash International designed a program of capacity building support for the Komnas Perempuan (Indonesia's National Commission on Violence Against Women) and other counterpart agencies. Fiji Gender Mainstreaming: Gender Responsiveness TrainingLocation: Suva, Fiji This project was delivered to the Ministry of Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation, Fiji to provide capacity building for participants from the ministries of Agriculture, Education, Finance and National Planning, and Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation. The major outcome of the training was the Women's Plan of Action, which addressed a number of gender mainstreaming issues in the Fijian context, including: women and the law, micro-enterprise development, decision making, and violence against women. This project also included a month long work attachment. A representative from the Ministry of Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation spent one month working in a number of key government agencies and NGO's in South Australia to explore gender and equity issues. |
