Text versionProfessor Alan Trounson, Stem Cell Sciences, Monash University said: "If you are suffering from blindness or loss of sight, maybe we can grow you new retinal cells. Maybe if you've got a cancer, we can send in cells there that will fight that cancer. These are all opportunities that I think will occur in due course because of the research here at Monash and associated with the National Stem Cell centre." Monash is a university with few boundaries. Its research agenda is outstanding, with outcomes that make a real difference. Professor Trounson's area of stem cell research at Monash may take the world to extraordinary discoveries and solutions for human health. Research in mathematics could even solve the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. Paleontologists are learning new secrets of our past. The Monash University Accident Research Centre is making roads safer for drivers and passengers. And Monash geographers are working with a prominent bank to predict the human and financial risks of global warming. |
