Health insurance

Under Australian Government visa rules, all international students (except those from Sweden and Norway ) must have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) before they can apply for a student visa.

This health insurance policy is provided by a private insurance company and arranged by Monash. It covers only basic medical, hospital and pharmaceutical costs while students are in Australia and enrolled at Monash. The policy does not cover the full cost of most medical and pharmaceutical services but it generally covers the full cost of hospital treatment in a public hospital. It does not cover any dental costs.

The cost of the policy is currently $A175 for one semester and $A349 for two semesters. Students, except study abroad students who buy packages which include OSHC cover, are required to pay the insurance premium before we can issue their CoE.
