Monash JD Scholarships

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce the introduction of three scholarships for new Monash JD students commencing in Trimester 3 (August) 2017.  

Applications are now open and close Monday 31 July 2017.

Scholarships include:

Monash Juris Doctor Scholarship for Academic Excellence
Monash Juris Doctor Asylum Seeker Scholarship


Monash Juris Doctor Law Dean’s Scholarship

Benefits
Tuition fees paid and $1000pa for the minimum number of credit points required to complete the degree.

Number offered
Up to two scholarships available.

Selection Criteria
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and video application.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to provide a video applications that demonstrates how the student will contribute to creating a vibrant, positive learning environment (may include one or more of the following; industry/life experience, cultural background and/or extracurricular activities).

Eligibility

  • An Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen, a holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa.
  • A commencing Monash University postgraduate (coursework) student who is enrolled or intending to enrol full-time as a Monash JD student, attending the Monash Law City Campus.
  • Previously completed, or are about to complete, an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification recognised for admission to the Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) Program.

Retention
Students must maintain full-time 48 credit point study load.

Maintain a credit average (60% or above) each semester.

Application and other information
Scholarship cannot be deferred. Students should also submit a course application for the Juris Doctor course.This scholarship will be recorded on students’ academic transcript or AHEGS.

Monash Juris Doctor Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Benefits
Tuition fees paid and $1000pa for the minimum number of credit points required to complete the degree.

Additional $3000 one-off payment to international students in their first year of study to contribute to travel and relocation costs.

Number offered
Two scholarships available - one for a domestic student and one for an international student.

Selection Criteria
Awarded on the basis of academic achievement

Eligibility

  • An Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen, a holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa, or an international student.
  • A commencing Monash University postgraduate (coursework) student who is enrolled or intending to enrol full-time as a Monash JD student, attending the Monash Law City Campus.
  • Completion, or are about to complete, an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification recognised for admission to the Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) Program with a minimum GPA 6.9/ 7.0 or LSAT score of above 170.

Students must maintain full-time 48 credit point study load.
Maintain a credit average (60% or above) each semester.

Monash Juris Doctor Asylum Seeker Scholarship

Benefits
Full tuition fees paid and $1000pa for the minimum number of credit points required to complete the degree.
Additional $3000 one-off payment for the first year of study to contribute to travel and relocation costs if applicable.

Number offered
One scholarship available per calendar year.

Selection
Awarded on the basis of need.

Applicants will be contacted to provide a video applications that demonstrates how the student will contribute to creating a vibrant, positive learning environment (may include one or more of the following; industry/life experience, cultural background and/or extracurricular activities).

Eligibility

  • A holder of an Australian Bridging Visa A or E.
  • A commencing Monash University postgraduate (coursework) student who is enrolled or intending to enrol full-time as a Monash JD student, attending the Monash Law City Campus.
  • Previous completion, or are about to complete, an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification recognised for admission to the Master of Laws (Juris Doctor) Program.
