How to apply

Domestic applicants (Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents ) applying for Monash postgraduate law programs must submit an application with appropriate supporting documentation. If applying for the Monash JD program please refer to the Monash JD Domestic Application web page.

Application process

  • Applicants must submit an online application with the relevant supporting documentation.
  • Academic transcripts are not required for courses previously undertaken at Monash University.
  • Applicants will be notified of an outcome within two weeks of submission of a completed application.

Supporting documentation is required in original or correctly certified hard copy and should be sent, together with the required cover sheet to:

Credit information

If seeking any credit for prior learning or work experience, you must submit a Credit Application form (pdf, 198kb) with the appropriate supporting documentation in order to be assessed. Refer to the Faculty's Credit Policy - Postgraduate Courses. NOTE: Section 6.1.1 refers to any postgraduate law units undertaken as part of an undergraduate law degree.

Applicants who have completed postgraduate law studies with another institution within the last ten years, may apply for credit. The maximum amount of credit that can be granted towards masters courses from other institutions is 12 credit points, two units. Students may be eligible for credit for up to 50 per cent of the course (24 credit points) for previous masters level studies in law at Monash.
