Reclaiming Birthing Practice

The intergenerational dislocation of Aboriginal families throughout the past 200 years, has resulted in very little of Victorian Aboriginal women’s antenatal and infant care knowledge systems being sustained and/or collated. Through archival research, this Project aims to reclaim birthing knowledge of Indigenous women of Victoria to assist current and future generations in both the mother’s and the infant’s health and wellbeing. The project is being conducted in collaboration with the Monash Indigenous Centre and is funded by the Victorian Women's Trust and the Grosvenor Foundation
