As Research Director, Research Translation at Monash University's Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences since 2009, John has worked with a diverse range of stakeholders to accelerate the transfer of research into a range of outcomes; promoting private equity investment and commercial grants.
John has more than 20 years' experience in the global biotechnology and medical research sectors with senior roles with major institutions and public and private biotechnology companies. His expertise covers structuring and negotiating alliances, deal-making, grant applications, stakeholder relations, term sheet negotiations, team management, R&D and business planning as well as technical experience across rodent genetics, genomics, stem cell biology and protein chemistry. His projects have been based in California, London, Melbourne and Johannesburg.

Jason is the Senior Business Development Manager (SBDM) for the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.
He has over 25 years research, commercialisation and management experience in the biotechnology sector in Australia and USA. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Immunology from Monash University, a PhD from The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for Medical Research (The University of Melbourne) and was an NHMRC C.J. Martin Fellow at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda (USA).
Jason has held senior positions at Johnson & Johnson Pty Ltd; the Children's Medical Research Institute (Westmead); the CSIRO; the Australian Tissue Engineering Centre Limited, Benitec Limited, and Horizon Science. For the last 3 years he was the SBDM for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at The University of Melbourne. Jason is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and has held several Board positions.
Jason provides leadership, management and support in developing relationships with the corporate sector, Government and relevant funding agencies to facilitate competitive research grants, contracts, tenders, and industry engagement opportunities consistent with the research strategies of the Faculty. He also assists with the commercialisation of intellectual property developed wholly or in part within the Faculty.
