Chunky Move's
I Want to Dance Better at Parties

Sell out season at the 2005 Melbourne International Festival

Friday September 22nd -- 8pm
Alexander Theatre

Conceived by Gideon Obarzanek

Choreography and Direction -- Gideon Obarzanek

Featuring -- Kristy Ayre, Antony Hamilton, Jo Lloyd, Lee Serle, Adam Wheeler, Delia Silvan

After the successful season of Wanted: ballet for a contemporary democracy in 2003, Chunky Move returns to the Alexander Theatre with I Want to Dance Better at Parties. This part documentary, part impressionistic dance work examines the private lives of men and their experiences with dance.

I Want to Dance Better at Parties evolved from a documentary in the making in which Gideon Obarzanek interviewed a broad range of men about their experiences with dance. As the interviews progress these men's intimate disclosures become increasingly frank and revealing.

"... This work proves that contemporary dance is not just for those who "get" it, but a form that can be enjoyed by all."
