Peter Oyston
Artistic Director - Theatre
Peter Oyston is an internationally renowned theatre and film director, teacher and painter. He was founding Dean of Drama at the Victorian College of the Arts, is a past Artistic Director of Playbox and has been a champion of theatre companies such as The Murray River Performing Group, The Flying Fruit Fly Circus, West Theatre and Theatreworks.
He has taught and directed many talented emerging indigenous performers. In the UK Peter was founding Director of the Dukes Playhouse, Lancaster and ran the Century Mobile Theatre for three years. He was Associate Director of the Mermaid Theatre, the Liverpool Playhouse and has directed at the Royal Court, the Young Vic, Birmingham Rep and numerous other theatres.
He regularly teaches at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and has directed over 200 productions in Japan, France, the USA, the UK and Australia. Peter is also a past president of the PDGV and continues to serve on the PDGV executive committee.
