George Enescu is arguably Romania’s greatest-ever musician. An exceptional violinist and a fine pianist and conductor, he was accepted into the Vienna Conservatory at the age of eight. A poignant, exotic, epic, his Vox Maris is a lavish musical story for soloists, chorus and orchestra, which tells of a sailor who dies when his ship is wrecked in a storm.

While composing Don Giovanni - one of his most complex explorations of the human spirit – Mozart created a treasure of gossamer lightness, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. His mentor Haydn created two great concertos for the cello, and to appear as soloist in the delightful and virtuosic concerto in D, we welcome one of the world’s finest cellists, Chinese-born Jian Wang.
