As part of her winnings from ABC TV’s Operatunity Oz, Emily appeared as Gilda in a performance of Opera Australia's production of Verdi's Rigoletto at the Sydney Opera House. She has given her own solo concert as part of Federation Square's Melbourne Christmas series, appeared as guest soloist with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Society in St. Paul's Cathedral in Melbourne and has been invited to take part in various corporate events for Opera Queensland and Opera Australia. Appearances during 2008 include Opera on Kings Beach at Caloundra.  Emily has also studied language and singing at the Conservatorium of Music in Milan and gave concerts with their Chorale and the International School in Varese.  She is flying down from Brisbane where she has joined the Young Artist Program of Opera Queensland.

Tenor Roy Best came to national prominence in his performance of the Duke in Opera Australia’s Rigoletto at Sydney Opera House, October 2006, to a packed house and an audience of over one million TV viewers.  Roy is currently studying under Anna Connolly, while earning a living in various things from motor mechanic to carpenter/builder. Principal roles in opera include: Turiddu – Cavalleria Rusticana (Melbourne Opera) for which he received a Green Room nomination; Rodolfo – La Bohème (Melbourne Opera); Brueys, Admiral and Sailor – Nelson (Stuart Greenbaum) and Nemorino – Elixir of Love (Victorian Opera).  Roy has delighted audiences in many concerts in Sydney and Melbourne including the Irish Songs of Pride concerts, the Mozart Requiem and the launch of the 2007 Crown Christmas Spectacular.

As well as hearing the two principals singing their own selections they will also join the choir for some numbers. The choir itself will present a varied program of songs sung in English, Welsh, Latin and German. This is a special one-off afternoon concert for all those who love good music and top-class soloists.
