Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) Information

    As a result of a change of policy brought in by the new Commonwealth Government, full-fee university places will no longer be available from the beginning of 2009 for domestic students (Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, students with humanitarian visas, and Australian permanent residents). This will have an impact on you as a Monash College student, should your results throughout your study of Part 2 Diploma units not reach the required level for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP or the old HECS) in your destination Faculty.

    The impact on Monash College domestic students who are scheduled to complete their diploma after June 2008 will be:

    1. That you will no longer be able to progress into full-fee paying places at Monash University.
    2. In order to obtain a place at Monash University in future, you will be required to compete for a Commonwealth Supported Place at Monash University.

    The marks required for your course are as follows:

    FOR DIPLOMA OF BUSINESS STUDENTS:

    In order to be considered for a Commonwealth Supported Place at Monash University, the following average grades must be achieved in Part 2 of your Monash College Diploma:

    • Bachelor of Business and Commerce (single degree) – 65 per cent average
    • Bachelor of Business and Commerce (double degree) – 65 per cent average
    • Bachelor of Business (single degree) – 75 per cent average
    • Bachelor of Business (double degree) – 80 per cent average
    • Bachelor of Commerce (single degree) – 80 per cent average
    • Bachelor of Commerce (double degree) – 85 per cent average.

    Please note that no Commonwealth Supported Places will be available for students who intend to commence their Monash University degree in the second semester of a given year.

    FOR DIPLOMA OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS:

    In order to be considered for a Commonwealth Supported Place at Monash University, the following average grades must be achieved in Part 2 of your Monash College Diploma:

    • Bachelor of Information Technology Systems – 50 per cent average
    • Bachelor of Business Information Systems – 60 per cent average
    • Bachelor of Computer Science – 60 per cent average
    • Bachelor of Software Engineering – 60 per cent average.

    Limited Commonwealth Support Places may be available for students who intend to commence their Monash University degree in the second semester of a given year.

    FOR DIPLOMA OF ENGINEERING STUDIES STUDENTS:

    In order to be considered for a Commonwealth Supported Place at Monash University, you must achieve a credit (60 per cent) average in Part 2 of your Monash College Diploma.

    Limited Commonwealth Support Places may be available for students who intend to commence their Monash University degree in the second semester of a given year.

    FOR DIPLOMA OF ARTS STUDENTS:

    In order to be considered for a Commonwealth Supported Place at Monash University, you must achieve a credit (60 per cent) average in Part 2 of your Monash College Diploma.

    Limited Commonwealth Support Places may be available for students who intend to commence their Monash University degree in the second semester of a given year.

    FOR DIPLOMA OF ART AND DESIGN STUDIES:

    In order to be considered for a Commonwealth Supported Place at Monash University, you must achieve a 65 per cent average in Part 2 of your Monash College Diploma.

    Limited Commonwealth Support Places may be available for students who intend to commence their Monash University degree in the second semester of a given year.

    Information Sessions

    Monash College initiated a dedicated support program which included various information sessions and one-to-one couselling throughout June and into July.

    Field of Study Managers, Student Advisors and the Monash College Course Advisor are all available to assist you with specific questions you may have.
