Single unit enrolment - Course Code 3615 (Non Award Program)

Single units are taken outside an award course. Students are not enrolled in a Monash College diploma program and will not receive an award at the completion of study. Upon application the students will receive a statement of your final results.

Fees for Single Unit

Students enrolling in single units will be charged a tuition fee to be based on the corresponding diploma programs. Note that full fee rate will be applied and FEE HELP is not available for the single unit.

FEE-HELP

The FEE-HELP loan amount is for tuition fees only and has a current lifetime limit of $83,313. The FEE-HELP limit is indexed annually and a government loan fee of 20% applies to FEE-HELP loans for undergraduate courses of study. The FEE-HELP limit does not include the government loan fee.

Eligible students who wish to pay for part or all of their tuition fees through FEE-HELP must fully complete a ‘Request for FEE-HELP assistance’ form by the relevant census date (ie 31 March for trimester one, 31 July for trimester two), including the provision of a tax file number. A student will commence repaying any FEEHELP loan through the Australian Taxation Office once their income reaches the minimum threshold for compulsory repayment.

The FEE-HELP loan can’t be used to pay for the Single Unit Enrolment.

More information is available by contacting the Student Services Counter or by contacting the DEEWR inquiry line on 1800 020 108, or visit the DEEWR website at www.goingtouni.gov.au.

Refunds Eligibility

Students may be entitled to a refund due to

  • overpaying tuition fees
  • discontinuing units before the census date
  • withdrawing or intermitting from the course before the census date

Any student discontinuing a course or unit enrolment after the census date is liable for the fees in full.
Credit in a student’s account will be applied to any other debts held by the student before a refund is issued. This may result in no refund being available. Other debts may include halls of residence or library fines.

Note:

  • For refunds students should allow 4 weeks for their applications to be processed.
  • Refund applications are not processed during the change of enrolment
  • Under Banking Regulations, where a credit card is used for payment Monash University must refund that credit card. An application form can either be downloaded or obtained from the Student Services Centre or a refund can be processed to a credit card at any Cashiers Office. Please do not supply your credit card details through the on-line application form
  • The Fees Section undertakes regular reconciliations of student accounts and will advise of any credit available to current and previous students by letter sent at the end of each year. Any credit may be refunded or applied to the next charge levied by the College.

Relevant Policy

Student Fees Policy

Unclaimed monies

Students who do not claim their refunds for tuition/amenities fees from the Fees Section within two years, must lodge a claim, in writing, to:
The Group Accountant
Corporate Finance Division of Monash University
Clayton Vic 3800

Refund processing

Refund forms are not processed during the change of enrolment period (two weeks either side of the commencement of studies) due to the variable nature of students' course load. The exceptions to this are where there is a total withdrawal or intermission from the course or a change in enrolment status from full-time to part-time.  Refunds are made by cheque to the student unless the original payment was made by credit card.

Credit Card Refunds

Under Banking Regulations where a credit card is used for payment, Monash University must refund that credit card. With all other payment methods a cheque will be issued and sent to the current address on the Student Database unless otherwise notified.

Telegraphic Transfer Refunds

Students requesting a refund, where the original payment was made by Telegraphic Transfer, are required to have the original payer authorise who the refund is to be paid to.

Application for Refund of Fees

To apply for refund of fees, please lodge your application to Monash University Fees Unit.
