News简体中文 (Chinese language version)"I Feel Like I Am At Home" Australian Education Counsellor Visits Monash College Programs in Guangzhou Mr Quentin Stevenson-Perks, Counsellor (Education), Australian Embassy in China recently paid a working visit to the provider of Monash College programs in China, Hua Mei School, Guangzhou, and delivered a lively address to its students. He spoke highly of the progress made by the College’s programs in Guangzhou over the past years. The academic principal of Monash College programs in Guangzhou, Nicholas Grigoriou, followed by his Chinese counterpart, Danny Chen, expressed a warm welcome to Counsellor Quentin Stevenson-Perks for his visit and presented a comprehensive introduction about the growth of college in China in last seven years. As a pathway to enroll in the second year of the undergraduate program offered by Monash University, one of Australian leading universities, Monash College programs in Guangzhou has built up its own brand and reputation in the local community. There have been over four hundred outstanding high school students successfully enrolled in Monash University for further education after completing their study program in Guangzhou. This contributes to an important part of Sino-Australian educational and cultural exchange. During his address, Counsellor Quentin Stevenson-Perks encouraged all students to participate actively in the social activities provided by Monash College programs in Guangzhou and at Monash University as well as their academic studies and to practice and continually improve their English language abilities. “The skills of the future will include interpersonal and cross-cultural communication and especially teamwork” he said. He advised that for effective teamwork in the global environment, the consideration of cultural differences is a must and that Monash University offers a great opportunity for students to develop these skills in one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world. In responding to question asked by a student about his impression of Monash College programs in Guangzhou, Quentin said “I just feel like I am at home”. |
