BASIC DESIGN STUDIO A (MCD1330)
Purpose
To provide a foundation unit this introduces the understanding of two-dimensional design principles to students of art and design.
Prerequisites
Nil.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
- understand and apply the design process
- recognise and analyse 2 dimensional elements of design: shape, tone, line, texture, pattern, and colour;
- recognise, analyse and use the principles of design
- recognise some of the theoretical and psychological issues of selected colour theories; and,
- recognise, analyse and use typography
- understand and apply the nomenclature of design
Assessment
Assignments: 100%. This unit consists of 9 projects. Each of the assigned projects demands the implementation of various elements and principles of design.
